Studio commissions

Restaurant interiors, shaped by hand.

A restaurant has to feel like a place of its own. Shidrah Studio develops sculptural interiors around the character of the space: walls, a bar, seating and light considered together, with the material work carried through by hand.

Restaurant interiors

From the room to the smallest detail

The starting point is how the space should feel and how people will use it. A sculpted feature wall can frame a dining area; a timber counter can soften the edge of a bar; concealed lighting can bring out the relief of a surface. The aim is a connected atmosphere, with each element belonging to the same place.

See the work at Hameara

The Hameara restaurant in the Negev brings together sculpted wall surfaces, a custom bar, timber and illuminated circular features. The project photographs show both the room and the close details of its making. They offer a concrete starting point for discussing the kind of work the studio can develop for another restaurant.

Planning a commission

For a first conversation, send photographs of the existing space, approximate dimensions, the location and your intended opening date. A plan is useful if you have one. We can then discuss whether the work should focus on a single defining element or a wider treatment of the interior.

What determines the budget?

The extent of the sculptural work, surface preparation, material choices, access and installation conditions all affect the scope. The relationship between lighting and built elements also needs to be resolved. A project-specific proposal is more useful than a price based only on floor area; the first step is to define what will actually be made.

Before we begin

Can the work be limited to a bar or feature wall?

A commission can be discussed around one element as well as a complete atmosphere. Send the dimensions and a photograph of the area so the scope can be assessed.

Is this an architectural or permitting service?

The studio’s focus is artistic design and material execution. Any architectural, engineering, building-services or permitting responsibilities should be agreed with the appropriate professionals as part of the project scope.

By Request

If your space demands to be singular, tell us about it.

The studio takes on a limited number of projects each year. Write about the space and the vision. No spec sheet needed, a first conversation is enough.
